Paperless ticketing for concerts?!
Well, one, anyway. and one I'm NOT interested in.
I get emails from Ticket Bastard and saw this on the side. Miley Cyrus concerts are having paperless tickets. Just think about this for a minute. Paperless tickets. No actual tickets, no tickets you print out at home.

To ensure that the tickets remain in the hands of the fan, paperless ticketing requires that the cardholder who purchased the tickets presents their credit card at the door for admission. We would advise you to have the person, who will be attending the show, purchase the tickets themselves with their credit card and then you can reimburse them. Please adhere to the published 4 ticket limit per household. Fan club members are restricted to a 4 ticket limit per membership household, regardless of multiple memberships. Consumers may not exceed the ticket limit whether tickets are purchased during the presale and/or general onsale. Persons who exceed the ticket limit may have any or all of their orders and tickets cancelled without notice by Ticketmaster in its discretion. Gift Cards will not be accepted and we reserve the right to cancel your ticket order if used as a form of payment. Fans in Des Moines, IA; Las Vegas, NV; Tulsa, OK; Philadelphia, PA; Portland, OR and Columbia, SC should visit their local concert venue Web site for purchase information as tickets will not be sold through Ticketmaster. The Miley Cyrus Tour is donating $0.75 of the venue's Facility Fee to the City of Hope.

Okay. Considering her fanbase, I am guessing that most of the attendee wannabes are not going to have a credit card. If their parents have a credit card, but don't want to actually have to listen to Miley Cyrus for 2 hours, they have to walk their kids to the gate and present their credit card.
If you don't have a credit card, or a government-issued ID, you are SHIT OUTTA LUCK. If you are, say, visiting the country, or living here *gasp* illegally or even with a visa from another country, does that mean you couldn't attend? Does it have to be a US government issued ID?
You can't buy tickets at the venue for cash. You have to use a credit card. Then they issue you a seat pass when you go thru the rigamarole of swiping your credit card at the door. Can you imagine how long that is going to take for an arena full of people? OMG...what a fiasco that will be. I don't expect this to catch on.
If you buy the tickets and can't make it, or can't even be available to drive your kids to the concert, YOU ARE SHIT OUTTA LUCK. If you want to even give the tickets away, YOU ARE SHIT OUTTA LUCK.
This will be a fiasco.
Imagine how long it is going to take to get 10,000 people, or however many would attend, into the venue. PLUS having them swipe your credit card a second time, at the venue? Ick, I don't like that idea.
I understand they are trying to cut back on scalpers buying up all the tickets and then jacking up the prices, especially for what is essentially a kids concert. However, this was not very well thought out. Stay tuned....

You summed it up with ShitOuttaLuck.
What a fiasco!
Even if the parent hands over the credit card, it's their credit card and they have to be there at least to walk the concertgoer to the door, even if they, the CC holder are not going in.
As far as that confirmation number thing goes...that's kind of strange. Usually I have the option to print the tickets out on my computer (and they charge a convenience fee even though you are saving them money on a ticket and postage...) or have them mail me tickets. I can't remember if I've ever had just a confirmation number. Maybe at a smaller venue, but still I think I usually just print them out on the computer and it has a bar code they scan.
BTW, love the chickie banner!
clusterfuck i think will sum it up nicely!
I never thought I'd say this but I will look up her concert dates and try to remember to keep track of it & look for blog posts and news articles, if they aren't blaring at me without haveing to seek them out.
