You and me both! Well, ok, I was 13. It was the Illinois State Fair, Tipper was on stage and Al and I were hiding between the funnel cake cart and the 4-H barn...it was magic.

Aren't you just a little bitter that Al went on to take the credit himself? Or did you prefer it to having your parents know the terrible truth?

Yeah, when he said that it was with a wink & a nod to me. We had a good laugh about it. He brought me some recycled toilet paper, the long life light bulbs, and we had a nice romantic dinner of soylent green to make up for it. I never did get a straight answer out of him what soylent green is made of, he just said it was recycled. That's good enough for me.

In all fairness Tony is right. Al Franken goes into this in great detail in his Lies book. It was more of a media blow up.

But that still didn't stop the funnel cake love...

Yeah, you know I think I tried to find an exact quote about him claiming to invent the internet & I couldn't find it. It was one of those things I thought I'd missed (like everything else) and knew nothing about it till every one joked about it. But I think I saw him with Letterman Or somewhere & I think he just kinda laughed it off. So I didn't know what to make of it.

Exactly, the truth is that he rightly claimed that he was instrumental in getting legislation passed that helped fund the development of the internet. It's that darned old "liberal media" who were willing to promote Republican claims that he'd said he invented the internet. If you look back at that entire election, what you see is every word out of the Republican lie machine being treated as fact in the mainstream news. Whew. I'm so glad that's changed...
